Principal's Message Regarding School Policies

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to Evansdale Elementary School! The faculty and staff are truly excited about this opportunity to have you as part of the Evansdale family and community. We are very fortunate to have you here at Evansdale and believe that you make our “excellent” school even better! Evansdale was selected as a 2006 Georgia School of Excellence and this could never have happened without the support of students and parents. It also helps to have a dedicated staff that is second to none. Our goal every year is to challenge all of our students to reach their academic potential, and we look forward to working with you as we strive for academic excellence and improvement.

Please take time to read this handbook carefully. It is filled with information regarding school policy and procedures that will help make this a successful year for everyone. It would be beneficial for students and parents to discuss the contents of this handbook together. If you have any questions after reading the handbook, please call the school office and we’ll be very happy to help you. Your input is always appreciated and I hope this handbook helps answer many of your questions and concerns.

Please consider joining our PTA and I look forward to assisting you in any way I can to help make this a successful school year. I truly believe that we have a wonderful faculty and staff here at Evansdale. With your help and support we hope to continue the many fine traditions that set Evansdale apart from other schools. You are always welcome here at Evansdale and I hope you have a fantastic school year!

Respectfully,

Joe D’Ambra
Principal

Evansdale Elementary Student Handbook (School Policies)

Here are the first couple of policy guidelines from the Handbook:

School hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day. Please honor our arrival and dismissal times. Children should not arrive earlier than 7:20 a.m. or remain on campus later than 2:50 p.m., unless participating in a supervised school activity. SCHOOL DOORS WILL NOT OPEN TO STUDENTS UNTIL 7:25 A.M. After school, faculty and staff have professional commitments which begin promptly at 3:00 p.m.

The tardy bell rings promptly at 8 a.m. with morning announcements immediately following. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be considered tardy and must check in through the office to receive a pass to class. To ensure a tardy student’s safety, a parent should accompany the student into the office and present an excuse to the registrar. PLEASE AVOID TARDINESS AT ALL COSTS! When your child arrives late, he/she misses valuable instructional time, as well as disrupts the instructional time of other students. Please leave your home early enough for your child to be in the school building before 8:00 a.m. Please note that arriving tardy for five (5) days during a semester will disqualify a student from receiving the Perfect Attendance award.

The complete Handbook contains information on dress code, lunches, health and safety, traffic safety, severe winter, academic information, parent/teacher conferences, text books and library, and more.
