Evansdale Accelerated Reader

General Guidelines
1. All independent readers in 1st through 5th grades may participate in the Accelerated Reader Program. The Star Reader Program will determine the readability levels for each child.  Teachers will set goals for each student.

2. Students may read books from the Evansdale Media Center, public libraries, or any other collection.

3. Accelerated Reader book titles are available on the Internet at http://www.arbookfind.com/default.aspx or by logging in at https://hosted255.renlearn.com/51976/HomeConnect/login.aspx.

4. The Accelerated Reader tests can be accessed in the Computer Lab, Media Center, and the student's classroom. Students may test before and after school in the Media Center.

5. It is acceptable to take a test on a book someone has read to a student, provided the student is able to take the test independently.

6. Points are awarded according to the number of correct responses and the readability level of the book.

7. Accelerated Reader is an individualized reading program. All students in a grade level may not have the same point requirements to reach their goals. Students are encouraged to work toward their personal goal. This is not a competition between students. It is designed to promote individual success in reading.
